Master bedroom lamps should be statement-making pieces that accentuate your bedroom’s design scheme. Crystal table lamps for bedroom come in a wide range of designs. A crystal lamp can be modern or traditional, formal or funky – but they all add a touch of sparkle to your master bedroom.
When choosing bedside lamps, where do you begin? Of course, lamps should provide enough light for reading, and be in proportion to your space. How many bedroom lamps do you need? How do you decide the height of the lamp? What size should the lampshade be? We’ve all brought home lamps that were a little too tall, or short, for a certain spot. No worries! We’ve put together a list of lamp shopping tips to help you get started:
Master Bedroom Lighting Tips:
- Most bedrooms need three light sources – a pair of lamps flanking the bed, and either a small accent lamp or a ceiling fixture.
- Table lamps for bedrooms are used for general lighting, so they need a shade to diffuse light.
- Three-way lamps and dimmer switches are handy if you’ll need bright light for reading.
- The lamp’s electrical components (the socket and switch) should be covered by the lampshade.
- The shade should always cover the bulb, whether you’re standing or sitting.
- The height of all lamps in the bedroom should be within an inch or two of each other.
Why Use Crystal Lamps Beside The Bed?
The barely-there look of crystal suits almost any interior, and adds just a touch of sparkle. Crystal’s lack of color allows the room’s other elements to stand out. Lamp accents like chrome, brass or gold can be chosen to coordinate with furnishings and hardware.

Adelina Flat Column Lamp
Styled after a classic column shape updated in a rectangular construction, this beautiful crystal table lamp will make a stately addition to any vignette. The eye-catching design is crafted in solid crystal material and topped in a white cotton box shade. Perfect for a side table or as extra lighting next to a reading or entertaining space, its versatility is limited only by your imagination.
With a clear lamp base, the focus is on the shape and scale of the lamp, not a color or pattern. Crystal lamps create a subtle silhouette, with interesting textures or hardware accents.
Crystal lamps are a smart buy too – over a lifetime, they can be used in different rooms of the home. Clear crystal is the ultimate neutral color!
What Size Bedroom Lamps Should You Buy?
Lamps that are too tall or too short are a common decorating mistake. They can make the whole room seem out-of-proportion, and it can be hard to determine the problem. While there are many rules about table height and lamp height, every bedroom is slightly different. Your bed, bedside tables, and lamps should be in scale with each other. Remember, the height of a lamp is the measurement from the tabletop to its highest point – including the finial on top.

Nathan Crystal Lamp
Make room for traditional elegance, as a column of crystal stacks up and sparkles from every angle. The round base of our lamp continues the aesthetic while a slightly tapered linen shade enhances the light’s reflection. Topped with a crystal finial and finished with a silk-wrapped 60″ cord, this lamp will add traditional glamour to any home.
However, what looks well-proportioned in the room may still not be a perfect size. If you can see the bulb from above, the lamp is too short. If you can see the bulb while sitting in bed, the lamp is too tall.
How To Measure For Bedroom Table Lamps
To protect your eyes from glare, your eye level should be near the center of the lampshade. Measuring makes sure you won’t see the bare lightbulb. To measure for bedside lamps, just follow our guide:
- Sit on your bed, and measure from the floor up to eye-level.
- Subtract the height of your bedside table.
- Add about 6” – this is the ideal lamp height.
- To hide the bulb, the lampshade should be eye-level when you’re standing too.
- Stand and measure from the floor up to eye level.
- Subtract the height of your bedside table.
- Add 6″ – this number may be a bit higher than the first one.
- Use the two measurements as a size range for your lamps: 27″-30″ tall, for example.
- If your ceilings or headboard are tall, choose the taller lamp.
A king-sized bed requires large nightstands, and lamps that are both tall and substantial-looking. With a queen-sized bed and an extra-tall headboard, look for tall lamps – but take those measurements! Make sure your bedroom lamps are the right height for reading.
Traditional Or Transitional Crystal Lamp Designs
Traditional crystal lamps have classic silhouettes – like a candlestick, baluster or gourd shape. When done in crystal, traditional shapes like these also work beautifully in transitional interiors. This lamp has a baluster shape, with a faceted crystal:

Mid-Century Crystal Lamps
Modern glass table lamps are defined by their sleek, simple shapes. A glass column lamp virtually disappears in the room, so it doesn’t compete with important art pieces or furnishings.

Conor Mid-Century Modern Column Lamp
For those who love architectural details, this crystal column lamp’s perfect proportions and solid crystal base create a perfect harmony of simplicity and interest. The slightly tapered cotton lampshade is a modern addition, and the silk-wrapped cord is so lovely, you’ll want to leave it exposed. Best of all, this lamp is fabricated from premium materials — 100% cotton fabric, crystal, and brass-plated electrical components — making it a reliable choice for years to come.
This lamp’s stacked crystal bricks recall mid-century Brutalist architecture:

Modern yet timeless, the geometric crystal cubes on the base of this 28″ high table lamp will bring a touch of glam and extra light to any dim corner. At nearly 30″ tall, you can make a statement by adding a pair on either side of a console or buffet, or use a single lamp to give your desk the designer touch with this updated take on a classic style. Crafted of crystal, it’s finished with a bright white drum shade and coordinating finial.
Hollywood Regency Crystal Lamps
We can’t talk about Mid-Century lighting without mentioning the over-the-top glamour of Hollywood Regency. Inspired by film sets of the 1940’s, this dramatic style features Asian, Art Deco, and Rococo accents. Big, gilded lotus flowers are perfect for this style:

Kylan Gold and Crystal Lotus Lamp
The lotus flower is one of the most ancient symbols still with us today — growing in muddy water and rising above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty, lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind. Taking that inspiration and creating this lovely table lamp, we’ve included the finishing touches of chrome-plated hardware, a silk-wrapped cord, and a large linen drum shade to complete the lux look. In ancient times, the lotus flower represented long life, health, honor and good luck — and we hope our modern crystal interpretation brings all of those to your home, as well.
Stacks of faceted crystal added extra shine to Hollywood bedrooms decorated in satin and velvet:

Crystal and Gold Bedroom Lamps
While crystal is often accented by chrome or silver, we think gilt adds stylish contrast. Use brass-gold or gilt finishes to add the warmth and richness of gold to a bedroom.
